Before you arrive

Please fill out your online intake form completely so that we have thorough information about your health history. You will get a link to the online intake forms when you receive your appointment confirmation. If you don’t receive a link to the intake forms, please do let us know and we will get them sent out right away!

Keep in mind

In preparation for your visit, please make sure to eat beforehand (acupuncture and an empty stomach are not a good combination). Wear loose, comfortable clothing. For facial rejuvenation treatments, please come with minimal or no makeup. Regular moisturizers and skin care products are fine to have on during the treatment.

What can I expect? 

 

Dynamic balance: Chinese medicine creates balance on the inside of your body, which in turn radiates outward into your life. 

Many patients experience a sense of deep relaxation, immediate pain relief, and a quality of centered well-being immediately after a treatment. In the following days, the body continues to heal. You may notice increased energy, better digestion, improved mood, mental clarity and more range of motion. When a condition is chronic, it takes the body longer to come back into balance, but over time, it does indeed find its way back to health. 

 

How do I prepare for my visit?

Make sure and eat something beforehand. It’s best not to receive acupuncture on a totally empty stomach. Wear comfortable clothes. Come as you are. You are an amazing person. You’ve made a choice to invest in your health. That is something to be proud of!

 

What happens on my first visit?

After completing paperwork,  we will have a thorough conversation about your health, your goals for treatment, and any concerns you have. We’ll develop a treatment plan together. After that, you’ll receive a full treatment. This may include acupuncture, herbal consultation and accessory techniques. 

 

How long does a treatment take? 

First treatments usually take about 75 minutes. Follow-up treatments are between 45 and 60 minutes long. Facial Rejeuvenation Treatments are longer. First visits are 90 to 105 minutes long. Follow-up treatments are 75 minutes. 

 

When will I see improvement?

A typical course of treatment is usually about 10 treatments, but varies depending on how long you’ve had the condition, and how much we collaborate on the healing process. Results vary by individual and specific condition. 

 

Does it hurt? 

Acupuncture needles are as thin as a hair, and most patients report feeling a dull, heavy sensation once the needles are inserted. Julie is known for her gentle technique, and many patients remark, “I didn’t feel a thing!”

 

Do you accept insurance? 

We do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide you with a detailed receipt called a SuperBill to submit to your insurance company. Payment is due in full at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

“I sought acupuncture for two painful conditions that Western medicine had failed to ameliorate.

The first was fairly intense and constant foot pain following surgery four years earlier. When the pain from soft tissue damage did not abate, the highly renowned orthopedic surgeon at one of the nation’s leading orthopedic medical centers advised me to “learn to live with it.” Over the past year, acupuncture has made the pain infrequent (maybe once or twice a week) and moderate (maybe at most a two on a ten point scale, down from seven or eight). The dermatologist at another leading medical center prescribed a pharmaceutical, correctly predicted it would at best ameliorate the problem (it didn’t even do that), and recommended that I have a plastic surgeon fill the cracks. That turned out to be a costly solution that would have to be repeated every six to nine months. Acupuncture and a Chinese herbal ointment proved more effective and affordable. When either condition flares up, an acupuncture treatment helps.
